This charming baroque sonata by Henry Eccles (1670-1742) is likely to be familiar to you if you studied a musical instrument. A popular choice for grade exams and student recitals this sonata has been widely transcribed, but as far as we’re aware this is the first time it’s been recorded on double bass and ukulele.
On this new recording Jeremy says, “I’d always intended to perform this sonata with a classical guitar, but the ukulele proved to be a wonderful match for the bass in this recording. When I listened back to the finished tracks for the first time I was pleasantly surprised at how much the ukulele reminded me of the lute, giving this performance an almost courtly air about it.”
