
Tiago Soares Silva - Violin
A Britten Pears Young Artist and Southbank Centre Future Artist, Tiago Soares Silva has performed throughout Europe as a chamber musician and soloist. Recent appearances include Wigmore Hall, Queens’ Hall Edinburgh, Southbank Centre, Linbury Theatre at the Royal Opera House and Aldeburgh Festival, Snape Maltings.
Tiago recently recorded Justin Connoly’s Ceilidh for four violins with members of the Kreutzer Quartet and Muriel Oberhofer for the Metier Label, to be released in early 2025. He has also collaborated with internationally-renowned artists such as James Ehnes, Jo Knight and Jack Liebeck to name a few.
As a contemporary artist, Tiago has premiered works by several composers such as Sarah Angliss, Erland Cooper and Sasha Scott. He is a founding member of both the Slate Quartet and 97 Ensemble, the later championing female composers’ repertoire and collaborating with charities such as Amnesty International and Solace Women’s Aid.
Tiago is a founder and Vice-President of FAMART, a cultural association bringing artistic events throughout the northern countryside regions of Portugal, and creating performance opportunities for young Portuguese artists, including masterclass series, concerts, workshops, professional recordings and live television and radio broadcasts.
Tiago performs on a violin by Gioffredo Cappa circa 1710, and a Hill bow, kindly on loan from the collection of the Royal Academy of Music, London.
