This is the first release in a new collaboration with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra featuring musicians form the orchestra and associated guests. The orchestra’s Centre Stage is a series of chamber music concerts in their home, the CBSO Centre, situated in the heart of Birmingham’s thriving West Side. The programmes are all player collated with support from management, and are popular amongst both players and CBSO audiences alike.
This first release of the Elgar ‘Piano Quintet in A Minor, Op. 84’, like all others in the series is a recording of the concert performance from late 2024, retaining both excitement and the danger of live music making, with liner notes in the accompanying digital booklet by the wonderful music writer and critic Richard Bratby.
