Jack Greed - Violin
Jack Greed is a UK-based violinist who enjoys a busy and varied schedule of orchestral, chamber, and solo playing. Born in Leeds, he began playing the violin at the age of four and (some time later) pursued studies at the Royal Academy of Music. Throughout his time at the Academy Jack studied with Joshua Fisher, who guided him through undergraduate and masters degrees. Upon the completion of his studies, Jack was awarded the Diploma of the Royal Academy of Music for outstanding performance in his final recital, and was also made an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music in 2024.
Jack’s greatest musical love is orchestral playing, and as such he has appeared with many of the UK’s eminent orchestras. Most notably, he held the position of No.4 first violin with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra from 2023-2024. Jack has also appeared in various roles as a freelancer, such as Co-Leader with Royal Northern Sinfonia, Opera North, BBC Concert Orchestra, BBC NOW and London Mozart Players, and Principal second violin with RSNO, Bournemouth
Symphony Orchestra and CBSO. He is also a member of the first violin section of Sinfonia of London.
In addition to his orchestral work, Jack is passionate about chamber music. From 2019 to 2023 he was a member of Trio Mazzolini, a piano trio specialising in contemporary music, which held the position of Chamber Music Fellows at the Royal Academy of Music from 2020 to 2022.
Jack has engaged in various chamber music projects with Sinfonia Cymru, and he will also appear as guest first violin with the Brompton Quartet later this year. When he is not playing his Gaetano Sgarabotto violin, Jack is passionate about cooking, coffee, and his hometown football club Leeds United.
